We are always happy to discuss bespoke items with you. If you have something truly unique in mind, please do get in touch and we will be more than happy yo discuss how we can go about putting your ideas into slate. Among other projects, we created a rather spectacular 20×15 inch engraved roofing slate with the UK shipping area map. This really was a labour of love, from drawing the map, cutting a ‘test’ sticker to check the design worked through to finally cutting the tape for the final engraving. It was a tough one but we were happy with the final result and the recipient loves it too.
There was also a request for a circular piece with all the cricket fielding positions marked on it. This one is 12 inches round and we were told to make sure ‘Cow Corner’ wasn’t missed off (although quite how we can put a ‘corner’ on a circle is beyond me). This too was another real project. The design was produced and approved by the recipient, then the final piece was created and delivered all within 48 hours. The slate was dug out of the ground locally in Blaenau Ffestiniog, cored and split then transported to our workshop to be turned into the finished piece. We love working with Welsh slate, it really is the best quality slate in the world and we are lucky to have the quarries on our doorstep.
All our works are deep engraved using a sandblasting technique. We NEVER print, paint or use a computerised laser etcher to create our products. Every one of our items is produced individually at our workshop in North Wales to ensure only the very best quality slate products are supplied, we certainly don’t ‘mass produce’ our items and strive for quality over quantity.
