Our house signs are produced using the very finest Welsh slate. It is mainly sourced from Blaenau Ffestiniog where it has been quarried, sawn into blocks, split by hand and dressed to give it a rustic edge. The mud and silt which forms this slate was laid down during Ordovician geological period, approximately 450 million years ago. We also occasionally have some slate from the Penrhyn quarry in Bethesda which is an older slate forming around 500 million years ago. This slate is also top quality but is a different colour to the slate quarried in Blaenau Ffestiniog.
We produced this beautiful house name recently. It is engraved onto a lovely purple Penrhyn slate tile and painted with a durable white paint.
The designs we put onto our slate signs are only ever sandblasted, (they are NEVER printed or put through a laser etcher). We believe that the finest quality slate deserves to be engraved by a skilled craftsman, not a computer. Every one of our signs is produced individually, so we can ensure that you end up with only the best quality product.
